Linux environment on Android with Gnuroot

I’ve written beforehand how to build a Linux environment on Android.
It was contents to install dual boot to the application “debian no root” and Nexus, but this time is about using the application called Gnuroot.

Although it is not as much as debian no root, it is an application that can make the Linux environment relatively easily, and it can also be used on relatively early Android.
You can also use it in a non-root environment.

How to use Gnuroot

As a usage method, it is somewhat similar to Complete Linux installer.
In the case of Gnuroot, you will select the debian version and proceed with the installation.
It is an image that runs the Linux environment with Gnuroot and accesses like an ordinary personal computer by separately preparing an application.
Simply put, I think that you think that remote access is done on the same terminal to Linux running on the Android background.

Immediately after installation the desktop environment does not exist.
Therefore, even if you access it, only the command screen will be displayed so let’s prepare a desktop environment such as lxde.
This work can be done on Gnuroot.

Desktop environment etc. unnecessary! , If you are installing only the necessary application, it is OK.

Let’s actually use Gnuroot

Well the image below is actually the place to install Gnuroot debian to smartphone.
Just by installing the application, debian will move at will.
(There is no desktop environment yet, so you need to insert it yourself.)
When the left side is activated, the right side is debian and leafpad (notepad) is moving.

At first, I planned to build Lxde as a desktop environment, but due to too little storage, installation itself fails on the way.
I’d like to prepare smartphones with some storage.
My smartphone can not afford storage so we tried to install only leafpad and use it.
(Install with apt-get command)

You can display inside debian by clicking the button “Xterm”.
Complete Linux installer required OS image and VNC viewer to be prepared separately
On the screen of the smartphone, the letters are also pretty small, and the work with the keyboard and mouse is more convenient.

By the way, if there is no desktop environment, only the terminal will be displayed, so I type the command directly with leafpad and launch the application.
It is also possible to store data in smartphones.
By the way, the home folder is directly under the folder called Gnuroot which is automatically created on the terminal.
Data can be accessed mutually by Android and debian by storing data here.

Difference between Gnuroot and debian no root

There is not much if it is said straight.
The Debian no root is quicker because the desktop environment has also been introduced from the beginning, but it is structurally almost the same.
However, if you use Gnuroot with CUI only, you can say that the degree of freedom is high.
Since it is faster if you just start a specific application.

Activities of Gnuroot

Well, depending on who you are, I think that you can think that most of the things you can do with Linux computers are almost done.
Browser, office type application, image editing It is anything.
Of course you can do it by arranging multiple windows side by side.
However, unexpectedly there are many things managed by Android alone.
The biggest reason to use may be self-satisfaction.
